Oracle Grid Infrastructure Troubleshooting and other Tips I

When I have no Enterprise Manager or Grid Control console available.

This command executed as root (I use RHEL5) globally monitor the status of Oracle©  CRS and detect possible anomalies in the processes of Grid Infrastructure software is running on a node:

# echo “$(echo “$(du -ks $CRS_HOME/log/$(hostname)/* | sort -n -r) ” | awk ‘{print $1 “\t” $2}’)”

The presence of processes in the top of the list that are not usually, can indicate possible problems in work environments known.

And the next one is to cleanup all clusterware log files older than seven days (usually I include in EM script in development environments for Sunday Window execution) as root user:

# find $CRS_HOME/log/$(hostname)/ -type f -name “*.l[0-9]*” -mtime +7 -exec rm {} \;

NOTE: I always include the CRS_HOME variable in the profile of the root user account. For the first command you can replace $CRS_HOME with $ORACLE_HOME  if you want to execute it with crs owner account
